Our story began in 1978 as a travel outfitter, known for quality clothing and accessories destined for adventure. Our Heritage
Banana Republic was founded by a journalist and illustrator who embodied the pioneering spirit of San Francisco in the 70s. They loved traveling and collecting surplus clothing, which they used to outfit their first store in Mill Valley. They also created an award-winning catalog that continues to inspire us today. Each issue featured unique illustrations, and product reviews from renowned writers, including Hunter S. Thompson, Nora Ephron, and more.
